Happy New Year!!

New year, new resolutions, right?!

This morning as my husband and I woke up the conversation went something like this:

Me: "Happy New Year! Have any new year's resolutions?"

Husband: "Shingle the roof!!"

Me: "That's not a resolution, that's a "to-do"; a chore. A resolution is supposed to be something you want to improve on. (Hinting) Like more traveling."

Husband (Doesn't take the bait.): "What about you? Do you have any new year's resolutions?"

Me: "Oh, you know, the #1!"

Husband: "That's not a resolution. That's a repeat!!"

Me: Laughs. "Yeah, well, whadayaknow!"

Well, I guess my resolutions usually are repeats. But then, there IS always room for improvements. Therefore, we keep striving toward them. And if you don't get it right the first time, try, try, try again.

Here are some of the usual resolutions:

  • Lose weight
  • Eat better
  • Improve our health
  • Exercise more
  • Closer relationships
  • Stronger faith
  • Closer to God
  • Trust in God more
  • More fun times
  • More organized
  • Fill in the blank: _____________________
  • And the list goes on and on ...

But what's really important is our faith, our health and our relationships. Everything else just falls into place. Will I make new year's resolutions this year? Probably ... but it's more of an ongoing thing with me that continues throughout the whole year, not just a few weeks or a month into the year. Always trying to improve anything and everything.

That said, I want to wish you a Blessed and Happy New Year in 2016!

Here is my prayer of blessing for you:
"Lord, Jabez asked You to bless him, and You did. Bless my dear readers like Jabez (1 Chron. 4:10). Bless them and make them fruitful like Ishmael (Gen. 17:20). Bless them with a blessing that cannot be reversed (Numb. 23:20). Let their basket and store be blessed (Deut. 28:5). Bless their beginning and their latter end like Job's (Job 42:12). Bless them with favor like Esther (Esther 2:17). Bless them with wisdom like Solomon. Give them favor like Nehemiah to finish the assignment You have given them (Neh. 2:5). The Lord make His face shine upon you, my dear readers, and be gracious to you (Num. 6:25)."
