Printer Cabinet Improvement

Doesn't the above photo of my printer cabinet look nice and tidy? And I love the contrasting red color.

I admit it didn't always look so nice. Even though it was organized, it didn't look organized and certainly didn't look nice. In fact, it was an eyesore! It used to look like the photo below.

Now wouldn't you agree that it looked like a disorganized eyesore?

I had intended on making my own boxes for this project, via pictures from Pinterest, but my sweet husband talked me into buying the plastic black and red baskets while shopping one day at Walmart. I am so glad he did!

I love black and red, and since I have several other projects going on at the moment and the baskets were reasonably priced, I decided to give in to convenience and make the purchase. I am so thankful I did! It made for a quick project and I am very pleased with the results.

After thinking about it, I have to agree with my husband that in this case it was a much better decision to buy than to make, and didn't take near the time to finish this project than it would have if I had made the boxes myself, since I would have had to cut six boxes to fit on the shelves and then decorate them.

I already had the boxes, and purchased some glue and hooks for decorating the boxes, but I still needed to find some paper or material to cover them and I wasn't finding anything that appealed to me.

The cost of the six purchased baskets only set me back $18.90, including tax. This price was probably cheaper or close to the total cost (not to mention the time!) that I would have paid for glue, material and hooks.

I returned the glue (which was around $4.00); never got around to purchasing the material; and my husband said he could use the hooks which were only about a dollar.

Now, not only is my printer cabinet organized, it looks great!
